5 Benefits of Combining Breast Lift and Brachioplasty Surgery
- Single Anesthesia Session: Undergoing both procedures in one session means only one period of anesthesia. This reduces any risks associated with general anesthesia.
- Consolidated Recovery: This is an all-around favorite for me and my patients! I absolutely love when we can achieve two transformative goals and condense your healing time into one. Once you recover from both surgeries, you are done healing! This can be more convenient and efficient.
- Cost-Effectiveness: Combining surgeries can reduce overall costs. Even though you do have to pay for each individual procedure, you will save money by reducing cost associated with anesthesia and facility fees.
- Time Savings: Time is precious and perhaps our greatest commodity. Common patient concerns include time off of work, away from competitive hobbies, apart from family or friends, and decreased ability to travel freely. By condensing your surgery into one day you condense the entire process into one pre-operative session, one surgical day, and one post-operative time and recovery commitment.
- Comprehensive Results: Body contouring procedures are much like tailoring clothes. When I work on adjacent areas like the breasts and arms, planning and performing these procedures together can be both efficient and beneficial. Some patients find it advantageous to undergo a combined procedure that removes excess tissue from the arms and continues onto the side chest to eliminate excess. These incisions often seamlessly flow into the breast lift incisions. By addressing multiple areas of concern simultaneously, we can achieve a more balanced and harmonious body contour.
It is important to note that not everyone is a candidate for combined procedures. It is of utmost importance to be transparent about your health, and to make a fully informed decision after careful consideration with all important members of your medical care teams. Honesty with your surgeon about health conditions is imperative when it comes to planning a safe procedure that has the best chance of success, all while minimizing risk.
I will always counsel you that perhaps the most important thing to look for in a surgeon is for a thoughtful and meticulous approach to their technique. Choose a surgeon that listens, educates, and discusses expectation of outcomes during your consultation.
As always, here's to choosing how we age, on our own terms!
