What Can I Expect With Breast Implant Surveillance?
Implant rupture can be a complication of breast augmentation surgery. Often ruptures are "silent," and no symptoms appear. Dr. Lindsey Tavakolian at Southlake Plastic Surgery Center follows The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommendation that women with silicone implants check them with ultrasound imaging starting 5 - 6 years after the original surgery and every 2 - 3 years thereafter.
