5 Goals of Breast Lift Surgery After Weight Loss
1. Restore a Youthful Breast Contour
- Lift the Sagging Breasts: the breasts will be elevated to a more youthful position on the chest.
- Reshape: the shape of the breast will change as the surgeon creates a skin envelope that fits the breast.
2. Reposition the Nipple and Areola
- Higher Position: the nipple and areola will be moved to a more natural, aesthetically pleasing height at the level of your inframammary breast fold.
- Symmetry: during the operation the size of the areolas will be reduced and asymmetries can be improved.
3. Remove Excess Skin
- Eliminate Sagging Skin: excess skin is removed and redraped over the underlying breast tissues. This will create a smoother, tighter breast contour. If you and your surgeon agree, this surgery can also be used as an opportunity to contour the side of the chest wall as well.
4. Enhance Breast Projection and Shape
- Fuller Appearance: the projection from the chest wall will increase after rearrangement of tissue and excision of excess skin. Breasts are usually more round and full appearing, even though the size is reduced.
5. Improve Clothing Fit and Comfort
- Better Fit: you will be pleased to know that you will no longer have to pick your drooping breast off of your abdomen to hoist it into a bra. This makes bra and clothing fit so much better!
